Mother's Day & Buddhism

Happy Vesak Day!

Today, one should strive for Patipatti Puja: Sila, Samadhi and Panna, more than Amisa Puja (offerings). Those who have made offerings of flowers, scents and incense to me, are not paying homage to me. Onky those who practice the Dhamma are the ones who truly pay homage to me. Sakamuni Buddha Dhammapada 364 story A kind reminder from Bhante Dr. Gangodawila at Patisota.

Decay and Destruction on the Path to Nibbāna ― Na Jīrati Sutta(Japanese Edition)

B HANTE'S NEW BOOK RELEASE! DECAY AND DESTRUCTION ON THE PATH TO NIBBĀNA: NA JĪRATI SUTTA (JAPANESE EDITION) Released on May 5th, 2020 b y Ven. Dr. Chandima Gangodawila. Dear Friends, I’m excited to announce that my sixth Japanese book “Decay and destruction on the Path to Nibbāna: Na Jīrati Sutta,” (Japanese Edition) was published on Amazon today, May 05th, 2020. An impeccable Japanese translation was provided by the esteemed author, Yoshiko. Among the most eye-opening subjects in the book is the discussion about the deviations (chiddāni) which troubles the mind. These deviations are the biggest obstacles in one's practice of wisdom and mindfulness. I am very delighted and honored to add this latest addition to the Japanese's readership. May you be well and happy! Bhante. Dr. Gangodawila Chandima

True Freedom

The moment you disconnect the relationship between "I" "me" and  "myself" from their activities mentally, you will achieve true happiness.

Meditation without Meditator

Deep in meditation, the meditator ceases to be. Every thought and sense of self has been greeted and dismissed with loving-kindness, and all that remains is a meditation-an action without an actor.

Dukkha (Suffering or Dissatisfaction?)

Answer It seems the Pali word "dukkha" has been constantly interpreted to mean suffering. But the true meaning of the word "dukkha" is dissatisfaction. Therefore, the real meaning of the word changes its understanding in its entirety. This is the reason why there are numerous ideas about Buddhism being pessimistic.

What is True Happiness?

The moment you disconnect the relationship between "I" "me" and "myself" from their activities mentally, you will achieve true happiness.

Distinction of a Controlled Mind and a Protected Mind

There appears to be a distinction between the Controlled Mind and the Protected Mind.  The Controlled Mind brings weight while the Protected Mind brings harmony .  May you be well and happy!

Are we attached to people or things, or are we attached to the concepts of people or things?

Question In the spiritual sense, we are attached to the people and things with a deep heart-felt feeling. Society is attached to the concept of people or things. Bhante  Chandima Gangodawila , please correct me if I am not right. Can Bhante comment a bit more on your question so we can understand with clarity, the actual meaning of the Question? Thank you very much. Bhante. Metta.  💖💞💝 Answer We are attached to concepts, and not to the idea of people, or things. Just as when we think people are misusing us, we are cheated by the people, but rather by the concept of them. It is pretty easy to clarify. Regardless of spiritual or societal life, we get attached to the people and things. If we look at the nature of these attachments closely, none of us has really attached to those xyc, but to our self-created concepts of such people and things. For instance, a man attaches to a woman, but what actually happens is a man is attaching to a concept of a woman of...
