Please join the host Bhante Dr. Chandima to interview Dr. Kieko Obuse about Non-religiousness in Twenty-First Century Japan. 

Kieko Obuse holds a doctorate in the Study of Religion from the University of Oxford. She is currently an affiliate member of the School of Religious Studies, McGill University, and visiting researcher at Kobe City University of Foreign Studies, Japan. She has formerly taught at the College of Religious Studies, Mahidol University, Thailand.

Kieko’s main research interests are Buddhist-Muslim relations, Islam in Japan, and Buddhism beyond Asia with an emphasis on the (Thai) Theravada tradition. She is a co-editor of the Oxford Handbook of the Sociology of the Middle East (New York: Oxford University Press, online publication started in 2020) and is currently finishing a book manuscript tentatively titled Buddhist-Muslim Engagement: Doctrinal Negotiations in Southeast Asia and Japan.
