Please join host Bhante Dr. Chandima for an interview with Professor Udaya Prasanta Meddegama about the potential of producing more accurate Buddhist textual translations, as well as the challenges and opportunities for developing better techniques to deliver the core message of the original texts to contemporary society.
Dr. Udaya Prasanta Meddegama is a former professor of Sinhala at the University of Peradeniya. In 1974, he earned a Ph.D. in Comparative Literature from SOAS, University of London. Dr. Meddegama was also a senior fellow at the University of London's School of Oriental and African Studies. He was a visiting professor at a number of prestigious academic institutions, including Hobart and William Smith Colleges in Geneva/New York, Bowdoin College in Maine, Swarthmore College in Pennsylvania, and SOAS at the University of London.
