  Khuddakapāṭha 8 (Minor Texts) Nidhikaṇḍa Sutta (the Reserve  Fund ) 9. Asādhāraṇamaññesaṁ, but this goes along with him. (You don’t have to divide it with others) acorāharaṇo nidhi; no thief makes off with your savings. Kayirātha dhīro puññāni, A wise person would make merit, yo nidhi anugāmiko. the savings that stay with you. 10. Esa devamanussānaṁ, of gods and humans too. sabbakāmadado nidhi; Such savings grant every desire Yaṁ yadevābhipatthenti, Whatever it is that they wish for sabbametena labbhati. through this they have it all.

  Four factors, according to the Buddha, can facilitate the attainment of the Noble Eightfold Path: (i) establishing connections with noble friends; (ii) hearing the true Dhamma; (iii) wise attention; and (iv) practicing in accordance with the Dhamma. Wise attention is the most crucial of these four elements; it enables us to surpass the level of an ordinary person by overcoming the five obstacles and cultivating the seven factors of enlightenment. 1. What is Yoniso  Manasik ā ra ?  Tracing dukkha down to its origin. Wise attention means that when we investigate dukkha, we trace dukkha down to its cause, origin, or foundation; we do so thoroughly, orderly, wisely, properly, and judiciously. 2. Yoniso  Manasik ā ra  is a not a philosophical speculation.but reflection built on observation seeking to understand how things originate through conditions 3. Is Manasik ā ra automatic?    We need to consult the Abhidhamma for this. The analysis of mental factors ( cetasika ) solves this issue.

  While wise attention (yoniso manasikāra) aids on the path of freedom and escape from the circle of birth and death, its polar opposite, unwise attention (ayoniso manasikāra), keeps one bound in the cycle of birth and death. The Buddha said this very clearly in the 'Discourse on All Fermentations' (Sabbāsava sutta) of the Majjhima Nikāya (the collection of the Buddha's middle-length discourses). There are three fermentations or influxes (āsava) that exist at the deepest level of the mind that prolong dukkha and one's existence in the cycle of birth and death: The influx of sense desire (kāmāsava) The influx of desire for existence (bhavāsava) The influx of ignorance (avijjāsava) While the Sabbāsava Sutta exclusively mentions the aforementioned three influxes, other Buddhist texts, most notably the Abhidhamma (Buddha's Higher Teaching), delineate four additional influxes: The influx of sense desire (kāmāsava) The influx of desire for existence (bhavāsava) The influx

Cetiyamhi ca saṅghe vā, At a shrine or with the Saṅgha puggale atithīsu vā; or in an individual, or a guest, Mātari pitari cāpi, or in his mother or father, atho jeṭṭhamhi bhātari. also in an elder brother, 8. Eso nidhi sunihito, those savings are well-stored up, ajeyyo anugāmiko; they follow one, they do not decay (invincible). Pahāya gamanīyesu, When he dies and leaves everything behind etaṁ ādāya gacchati. he only takes this with him.

  Khuddakapāṭha 8 (Minor Texts) Nidhikaṇḍa Sutta (the Reserve  Fund ) 1. Nidhiṁ nidheti puriso, A man stores his funds (savings) gambhīre udakantike; in a deep pit close to water thinking: Atthe kicce samuppanne, “When a duty or need has arisen atthāya me bhavissati. it will be there to help me, 2. Rājato vā duruttassa, to free me from a king if slandered, or from molestation corato pīḷitassa vā; or from a thief if harassed, Iṇassa vā pamokkhāya, or to release me from debt, dubbhikkhe āpadāsu vā; or famine, or accident.” Etadatthāya lokasmiṁ, For this kind of help, nidhi nāma nidhīyati. funds (savings) are stored up in the world.

  1. What does it mean to become a sotāpanna ? Four prerequisites for becoming  sotāpanna  Link 2.  Why was Aññā-Kondañña the first to attain  sotāpatti ? He was given the surname Kondañña by his family. He was well-versed in the three Vedas and excelled at physiognomy. At the time of bodhisattva's birth, the Kondañña was one of the eight Brahmins (the others being Rāma, Dhaja, Lakkhana, Mantī, Bhoja, Suyāma and Sudatta). He then lived in anticipation of the Bodhisatta's renunciation. Following this, he left the house with four others, who became known as the Pañcavaggiy ā. When the Buddha visited them at Isipatana after the Enlightenment and delivered the Dhammacakkappavattana Sutta , Kondañña and eighteen crores of brahmas attained the Fruit of the First Path. Having attained Dhamma awareness before any other human being, the Buddha bestowed upon him the reverenceful appellation " aññāsi vata bho Kondañño " twice; thus, he gained the appellation  Aññata Kondañña. So ñātidhammo ca ayaṁ nidassito,   This then is the definition of a relative’s duties— Petāna pūjā ca katā uḷārā; and by this great honour has been done to the departed, Balañca bhikkhūnamanuppadinnaṁ, strength has also been given to the monks, Tumhehi puññaṁ pasutaṁ anappakanti. and no little merit has been produced by you!

Adāsi me akāsi me,  Thinking “He gave to me, he did for me, ñāti mittā sakhā ca me; they were my family, friend, companion”, Petānaṁ dakkhiṇaṁ dajjā, give offerings to the departed.   pubbe katamanussaraṁ. remembering what they have done before.                                                                11.   Na hi ruṇṇaṁ vā soko vā, For no tears, or grief, yā caññā paridevanā; or any other lamentations, Na taṁ petānamatthāya, are of any use to the departed, evaṁ tiṭṭhanti ñātayo. as long as their relatives continue grieving in this way.
