  Khuddakapāṭha 8 (Minor Texts) Nidhikaṇḍa Sutta (the Reserve  Fund ) 1. Nidhiṁ nidheti puriso, A man stores his funds (savings) gambhīre udakantike; in a deep pit close to water thinking: Atthe kicce samuppanne, “When a duty or need has arisen atthāya me bhavissati. it will be there to help me, 2. Rājato vā duruttassa, to free me from a king if slandered, or from molestation corato pīḷitassa vā; or from a thief if harassed, Iṇassa vā pamokkhāya, or to release me from debt, dubbhikkhe āpadāsu vā; or famine, or accident.” Etadatthāya lokasmiṁ, For this kind of help, nidhi nāma nidhīyati. funds (savings) are stored up in the world.

  1. What does it mean to become a sotāpanna ? Four prerequisites for becoming  sotāpanna  Link 2. Why did Aññā-Kondañña only attain  sotāpanna ? He was given the surname Kondañña by his family. He was well-versed in the three Vedas and excelled at physiognomy. At the time of bodhisattva's birth, the Kondañña was one of the eight Brahmins (the others being Rāma, Dhaja, Lakkhana, Mantī, Bhoja, Suyāma and Sudatta). He then lived in anticipation of the Bodhisatta's renunciation. Following this, he left the house with four others, who became known as the Pañcavaggiy ā. When the Buddha visited them at Isipatana after the Enlightenment and delivered the Dhammacakkappavattana Sutta , Kondañña and eighteen crores of brahmas attained the Fruit of the First Path. Having attained Dhamma awareness before any other human being, the Buddha bestowed upon him the reverenceful appellation " aññāsi vata bho Kondañño " twice; thus, he gained the appellation  Aññata Kondañña. Ayañca kho dakkhiṇā dinnā, But that gift that has been given, saṅghamhi suppatiṭṭhitā;   and well placed in the Sangha, Dīgharattaṁ hitāyassa, is of benefit to them for a long time, ṭhānaso upakappati. immediately it is of benefit. 13. So ñātidhammo ca ayaṁ nidassito,   This then is the definition of a relative’s duties— Petāna pūjā ca katā uḷārā; and by this great honour has been done to the departed, Balañca bhikkhūnamanuppadinnaṁ, strength has also been given to the monks, Tumhehi puññaṁ pasutaṁ anappakanti. and no little merit has been produced by you!

Adāsi me akāsi me,  Thinking “He gave to me, he did for me, ñāti mittā sakhā ca me; they were my family, friend, companion”, Petānaṁ dakkhiṇaṁ dajjā, give offerings to the departed.   pubbe katamanussaraṁ. remembering what they have done before.                                                                11.   Na hi ruṇṇaṁ vā soko vā, For no tears, or grief, yā caññā paridevanā; or any other lamentations, Na taṁ petānamatthāya, are of any use to the departed, evaṁ tiṭṭhanti ñātayo. as long as their relatives continue grieving in this way.

*The etymology of the Pali word "Dukkha" The word has been explained in recent times as a derivation from Aryan terminology for an axle hole, referring to an axle hole which is not in the center and leads to a bumpy, uncomfortable ride. The ancient Aryans who brought the Sanskrit language to India were a nomadic, horse- and cattle-breeding people who travelled in horse- or ox-drawn vehicles. Su and dus are prefixes indicating good or bad. The word kha, in later Sanskrit meaning "sky," "ether," or "space," was originally the word for "hole," particularly an axle hole of one of the Aryan's vehicles. Sammā Samādhi  Process- Ekaggatā  - automatic/natural Ekaggatā (one-pointedness)> micchā samādhi (bad/wrong side) Ekaggatā (one-pointedness)> sammā samādhi (good/right side) Sam ā dhi - concentration (good/right or bad/wrong). This is not samm ā   sam ā dhi , because samm ā  sam ā dhi only arises when you practice with the rest of the path factors (starting from the right view). Sammā Samādhi   - right concentration (concentration in kusala thoughts) Not automatic Micchā samādhi   - wrong concentration (concentration in akusala thoughts, including the mere practice of jh ā na without shifting to the Noble Eightfold Path or practicing/cultivating the preceding 7 path factors) Not automatic Without cultivating the previous 7 path factors, you cannot achieve  sammā samādhi , although the immediate factor that can help you to come to  sammā samādhi  is  sammā  sati . When we talk about concentration ( samādhi ), we use two Pali words:  samādhi   and  ekaggat ā . Both appear
